Million Lives Fund targets health access with $100M

The Laerdal Million Lives Fund launched a new $100 million venture capital vehicle that will invest in commercial-stage companies focused on expanding health care access and education. The fund was established by operating companies and members of the Laerdal family, which is best known for inventing CPR training manikins.

Scottsdale, Arizona-based MyCarrier, a transportation management platform for small and medium-sized businesses to book and coordinate freight shipping, raised $8 million in a Series A round led by Greycroft and Lerer Hippeau.

Cloud security provider Orca Security landed a $210 million Series C round led by CapitalG and Redpoint Ventures. The financing sets a valuation of $1.2 billion for the Los Angeles-based company, which develops tools to examine a company’s cloud configuration and detect malware, misconfigurations and other vulnerabilities.

Food delivery service Deliveroo set a proposed share price range for its upcoming London IPO that would value the company at up to $12.2 billion. In other news, Spark Capital is severing ties with photo-sharing portfolio company Dispo and its beleaguered founder, David Dobrik.
